Victorian Rail Maps Restored at Victoria Station After Decades Hidden Behind a Newsstand

Hand-painted ceramic rail maps from 1899 are back on show at London’s Victoria Station after a major restoration. Hidden for decades behind phone boxes and a newsstand, the maps were cleaned and repaired by heritage specialists. The project was led by Govia Thameslink Railway with support from Network Rail and the Railway Heritage Trust, and timed to the 200-year anniversary of the modern railway.
